Interactive Messaging Unlimited (IMU) is a sophisticated
computer-controlled system for receiving, sending and
displaying text messages and picture messages sent by mobile phones. The IMU system
allows you to receive text and picture messages from mobile phone users,
manually or automatically screen the messages for content, and display
them in video (using the Video Messaging Unlimited companion program) or
in laser (using Pangolin's LivePRO).
In addition to displaying the messages, you can also use
IMU to conduct voting sessions with the voting results displayed in real
time or after the voting session has been concluded. You can also manually
or automatically send individual messages to users, or even
send information or advertisements to a large number of users.
Components of the IMU system
The IMU system consists of several computer programs
which together handle and display messages.
Message-handling program
The message-handling portion of the
IMU system is also
called "Interactive Messaging Unlimited"
Interactive Messaging Unlimited
This program controls all aspects of interfacing to
mobile message sources such as modems and servers: These message-handling
functions include:
- Receiving text and picture messages
- Filtering these messages
- Storing the messages into a database
- Tabulating the results of
voting sessions
- Sending manual or automatic responses to mobile
phone users
- Helping to control display aspects.
Message-displaying programs
Clearly the Interactive Messaging Unlimited program
itself does many functions. However, the IMU program does not actually
generate a display for the SMS messages it receives. The display portion
is handled by separate programs
Video Messaging Unlimited
Video Messaging Unlimited (VMU) is a
program which receives the text and picture messages from IMU and
displays the messages along with other video content such as fixed text,
scrolling text, animated bitmaps, windows media files (MPG, AVI, MOV,
etc.) and voting session results.
Lasershow Messenger
Lasershow Messenger is a component which allows
Pangolin's laser programs to display text messages in laser light
(picture messages are not supported for laser display). One example of
Lasershow Messenger is built into Pangolin's
LivePRO software. For more
information about text messaging capability of Pangolin software, see
the LD2000 and LivePRO help files.
Other types of displays
With the proper driver software,
IMU can also be interfaced to other types of displays such as LED
sign boards, dedicated TV character generators and "Video Jockey"
software. For more information about interfacing to other types of
displays, contact Pangolin.
