Perhaps you have a
product to which you'd like to add SMS capabilities. We have extensive
experience with SMS text and picture messaging, and would welcome discussion of
licensing opportunities. The licensing could include the extensive work
we've done thus far, as well as contract work to quickly implement new
features important to your application. We are flexible, so feel free to
contact us regarding your project.
Here's why we think some
type of licensing agreement could be very advantageous for your product:
12 programmer-years of
experience
Pangolin spent over 12 programmer-years
to develop our IMU and VMU products. They have been through many iterations and improvements. We've found
and fixed stubborn issues with SMS and computer interoperability. In
short, we can speed up your development time tremendously.
And with all this
experience, if you need custom features, we can "hit the ground running"
to add them to your software.
500,000
lines of code
There are 500,000
finished, completed, tested, debugged lines of code in Pangolin's IMU and
VMU programs. It would take a lot of programming time to duplicate 500,000
quality lines of code. Would you rather have your programmers working on
the product features that set you apart -- things other than SMS -- or
would you have them learn an unfamiliar field in order to "recreate the
wheel"?
We can save you years of work, by licensing our functionality and adding the look and features
you want.
A lot of standards to
review
In creating IMU and VMU,
we had to ensure it worked with various telephony and modem standards. In
the course of doing this, we developed a library of standards and
resources. Depending on your application, you'd have to collect and review
most or all of these documents:
- 25 documents on Nokia Smart
Messaging, and formatting messages for Nokia phones
- 24 documents on formatting
messages for Siemens phones
- 23 documents on phone-specific
message formatting for other phones
- 18 documents on MMS
- 17 documents on GPRS communication
|
- 15 documents on SMPP protocol and
communications
- 12 documents on AT commands
- 12 documents on the ETSI standard
- 7 documents on EMS
- 7 documents on WAP PUSH
- 5 documents on CDMA
|
Issues we've uncovered
In the course of creating VMU and IMU, we've dealt with
a number of situations that only came up in the course of real-work use.
These include:
- How to handle interoperability issues found
amongst CDMA and GSM and iDEN networks (all of which are in use in the
US)
- How to handle interoperability issues found even
within the GSM network itself (i.e. different flavors of GSM implemented
by Cingular, AT&T and T-Mobile)
- How to handle message screening and filtering
issues
- How to handle shortcodes, even if only using a
GSM modem
- How to handle the various protocol differences
and subtleties of modems and phones
- How to handle SMS, EMS, Nokia Smart Messaging,
MMS and WAP Push messages (all of which would be received at some point
during a products existence)
- How to handle the different character sets such
as 7-bit, 8-bit and 16-bit
- How to handle messages from other countries,
including right-to-left reading order
- How to handle SMPP protocol
Patent and legal issues
Finally, in addition to programming and technical
issues, we've also worked with patent and legal issues. For example, we've
worked to avoid infringing on other parties' patents -- and we have
developed some patents of our own.
Let Pangolin do the heavy lifting
In conclusion, we are willing to license our experience
and technology. This could include source code, the finished IMU and VMU
products, or even generation of new features.
Such a licensing agreement creates a win-win-win situation
-- for you, for us, and
for the end-user. If you are considering adding SMS to your product,
contact Pangolin today for more information!
